100% Barossa Shiraz, aged for 12m in French 300L hogsheads, 70% new. It has a very deep colour, and a super nose of rich fruit and oak. Fresh and lifted on the palate, blackberry and raspberry fruit, lovely vibrancy. Typically for these premium Penfolds wines it already has savoury complexity, with herbaceous notes, earth and spice. Opulent, but quite assertive at this young age. Feels more tannic than the (equally impressive) 2017 Bin 389. 14.5% ABV. Needs time; exciting potential. Decanter tasting.
