One of the rare bargains to be found in Napa Valley, Girard's 2019 Petite Sirah sources fruit from Calistoga and Pope Valley. Like the winery's Old Vine Valdiguie, it's inky in hue. Scents of blueberries, blackberries and licorice are typical of the variety, and the full-bodied palate is surprisingly well-behaved for a Petite Sirah, with ripe tannins that bring a silky feel to the lingering finish.
